The Ann Arbor-based bookseller, Borders, that has already closed 399 stores, will now be liquidating their stores on Friday.
The bookstore failed to get the bids that would keep the store in business and it is now seeking approval from the courts to sell its assets. As of this week, 10, 700 employees have already lost their jobs.
If approved, the liquidation process could begin by Friday and the stores would be out of business by September. They are expected to request the approval this Wednesday in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court of the Southern District of New York.
